You must have a high-speed Internet connection or DSL to use this service. The reason they you utilize a high-speed Internet connection is to route calls to the closest “gateway” back to fiber optic service. This is also referred to as “Managed Internet.”

When you sign up for the service, you will receive an “MTA” or Multimedia Terminal Adapter.  This device acts as a gateway between your internet connection and your telephone and/or computer.  So instead of connecting your computer modem or telephone to a wall jack, as you are used to, you plug it into your MTA. CIMple!

The MTA does NOT affect the speed of your Internet connection. The purpose of the MTA is to alter the digital signal from your high-speed connection and convert it to an analog signal.  When a call is made either from your phone or in the instance of fax broadcasting, the signal passes through the MTA, then travels through the Internet to the closest available gateway into a private fiber optic network.

The MTA is equipped with two standard phone jacks or ports, which will allow you to add a second line if desired.  The monthly flat rate amount for this service is per line.
